The answer
Anthropic launched a $100m academy to train 10,000 Frontier Deployed Engineers by end-2027.
What happened: On 2 October 2026, Anthropic announced the Claude Frontier Academy. The aim is to close the enterprise AI talent gap by training "Frontier Deployed Engineers".
The numbers: Anthropic is committing $100 million to train 10,000 engineers by the end of 2027.
Who's affected: The first cohorts come from Accenture, Bain, Capgemini, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Deloitte, McKinsey, Morgan Stanley and Novo Nordisk. They are running in San Francisco, New York and London.
The details: The programme has four stages:
Stage one: Multi-day in-person training with Anthropic engineers. It covers a simulated enterprise deployment, a security review and a graded practical assessment.
Stage two: Passing earns the Claude Resident Engineer badge. Engineers then spend 12 weeks leading a real Claude project inside their own organisation, with Anthropic support.
Stage three: A final assessment earns the Claude Frontier Deployed Engineer badge. Anthropic expects the first awards in early 2027.
In their words: Steve Corfield, Anthropic's Global Head of Business Development and Partnerships, said: "A small team of high-agency people with the right skills, access to Claude, and a deep understanding of how their business runs can transform an entire company."
The context: A day earlier, Anthropic announced that Barclays is scaling Claude across operations and client service. Anthropic is preparing a November IPO and launched Claude Sonnet 5.5 on 28 September.
What's next: The first Frontier Deployed Engineer badges are due in early 2027.
