**What happened:** Meta used its Connect 2026 keynote in Menlo Park on 23 September to reposition its entire device lineup around Muse, its personal AI agent, shifting the company's pitch from the metaverse to what Mark Zuckerberg calls "personal superintelligence".

**The details:** Muse launched 8 September in the US, Canada and Mexico across iOS, Android, muse.ai and WhatsApp. It books travel, fills forms and makes purchases, running on Meta's Muse Spark model. Meta now says it has reached millions of users.

**The numbers:** New hardware spans a wide price range: Meta Adventurer glasses from $249 (23 October), Ray-Ban Meta Audio at $349 (13 October), Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 at $449, and Meta VR Glasses at $1,299.99 due spring 2027. A hearing-enhancement feature, FDA-cleared, arrives later in 2026 for $149.99.

**What's new:** Muse is coming to Meta's AI glasses, activated by voice, able to act on what a wearer is looking at — guided workouts, meal logging, appointments, shopping. It also gets an advanced voice mode, a Realtime Avatar for live video chat, a Mac version that can operate desktop apps unattended, and its own email address "soon". A new keychain device, Muse Charm, carries the agent without a phone.

**The context:** New shopping and productivity connectors include Walmart, Best Buy, Sephora, Wayfair, Gap, Shop Pay, PayPal, Expedia, Instacart, Notion, Granola, GitHub and Box. Chief AI officer Alexandr Wang said over 1,500 developers applied to build connectors in under a week.

**Why it matters:** Meta is betting Muse becomes the default interface across phones, glasses, desktops and a dedicated wearable, rather than a single app.

**In their words:** "I expect that Muse is going to grow into the personal superintelligence that billions of people around the world are going to use," Zuckerberg said. On the business model, he added: "We're standing behind this by making Muse free for a huge number of tokens, with the expectation that over time we will profit by taking a small fee from transactions."

**The catch:** Amazon has blocked Muse from shopping on its site, saying the agent's access breaches its terms of service. Privacy protections rely on what Meta calls a Muse Secure VM, a per-user cloud virtual machine.

**What's next:** Wang teased a new Meta Superintelligence Labs model "soon", and more Muse Charm details are due later in 2026. The Meta Ray-Ban Display, priced at $799, expands to the UK, Canada, France, Italy and Germany.
