Nvidia invests $3 billion in Meta in Muse partnership

Meta's Muse models get a bigger Nvidia footprint, with faster, cheaper training and inference as the goal.

The answer

Nvidia will buy $3 billion of Meta's stock offering and expand their Muse AI partnership.

What happened: Nvidia will put $3 billion into Meta's equity offering, as the two firms expand their partnership around Meta's Muse models. Meta announced the stock sale on Monday, 26 October, according to Axios.

The numbers: Meta's stock sale is worth about $95 billion and is meant to fund AI investments. Nvidia's $3 billion is part of that total.

Why it matters: The partnership centres on Muse, with both firms aiming to make training and inference faster and cheaper. Nvidia says Muse already runs on its infrastructure. Meta will also expand its Nvidia deployment with Vera Rubin and Vera CPUs, Spectrum-X networking and BlueField-4.

The context: The deal came in a week when Meta's share sale and an AI-stock selloff were in the news. Meta shares fell 7% and Nvidia shares fell 4.4%.

The catch: The announcement gives no purchase price, share count or ownership percentage for the $3 billion stake. Quantities for the expanded Meta deployment were not disclosed.

What's next: Both companies are considering work on OpenShell, Nvidia's architecture for deploying agents safely, and the Sentry monitoring tool.
