OpenAI launches GPT-6 with interactive "Intelligent UI" in ChatGPT
ChatGPT can now answer with charts, forms, buttons and calculators instead of text alone.
The answer
OpenAI launched GPT-6 in ChatGPT with Intelligent UI, letting it reply with interactive interfaces.
What happened: OpenAI announced GPT-6 with "Intelligent UI" on 7 October 2026. ChatGPT can now respond with interactive interfaces, not just text.
The details: Those interfaces include charts, forms, buttons and calculators. OpenAI's example uses are explaining bicycle components, building a personal wardrobe, splitting a restaurant bill and creating a financial calculator.
In their words: Tech Startups described the feature as "a new way for ChatGPT to respond with interactive interfaces rather than conventional text alone."
The numbers: OpenAI says more than 1.2 billion people use ChatGPT weekly. In its internal testing, GPT-6 Instant starts answering about 44% sooner on average than GPT-5.6 Instant on questions that need web searches.
Who's affected: Rollout began on 7 October for Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise users. Free and Go users were scheduled to get it on 8 October.
The catch: The update applies to ChatGPT only. It does not cover the models used in Work and Codex. The 44% speed figure comes from OpenAI's own testing, not independent measurement.
Why it matters: ChatGPT moves from answering in text to handing users a working tool. A bill-splitter or financial calculator can be used directly in the conversation.
What's next: The Free and Go rollout was scheduled for 8 October, which completes the tier-by-tier release described in the notes. OpenAI has not said whether Work and Codex will get the same update.
