Slack launches Code Channels for team-supervised AI coding

Slack unveiled Slack Code, group chat channels for supervising AI coding agents.
What happened: Salesforce-owned Slack announced Slack Code on 20 August 2026. Tag a coding agent in any conversation and it spins up a dedicated "code channel" for that task.
The details: Each channel has tabs for the conversation, the agent's plan, code diffs and live previews of HTML output. Teammates see exactly what the agent sees, leave feedback it acts on, and approve the finished work before it ships. Once done, the channel archives itself, keeping its history as an audit log.
The numbers: Slack Code is included in every Slack plan, though using the agents themselves may require a paid account with their provider. The rollout is gradual.
Who's affected: Launch partners are Anthropic's Claude Code, Cognition's Devin, GitHub Copilot and Vercel's agent. OpenAI is building its own integration, according to VentureBeat. Slack plans to open the code-channel APIs to other developers later.
Why it matters: AI coding has largely been a solo activity, one developer running an agent in a terminal. Slack Code shifts it into group chat, letting whole teams plan, review and approve agent work together, according to Techzine.
